Update 01/01/2017
Hey guys. Just a small update when it comes to the contest
The submission date is over. I will be adding every single work to the contest folder within the next few days. But DeviantArt is buggy, and I might have missed a few notifications.
If you entered, please check if your work is in the contest folder. If it somehow isn't, shoot me a message so I can add it.
To be honest... I have over 200 entries and I had never expected so many.
Judging will therefore be a lot harder than I originally imagined, moreover because a lot of people added great descriptions to their submissions and it's going to take me some time to read them all.
Therefore the judging will take a bit longer than I originally envisioned.
Expect the contest results to be up by the end of January.
Thank you all kindly for your interest and understanding
Heya Deviants! It's time for another challenge!!!
The challenge is simple.
Take an artwork from your gallery from either late 2015 or 2016 and re-do it.
Make it better! Show us what you've learned in the past year.
Pick one of your older artworks from either late 2015 (june and onward) or 2016
Redo this artwork. You don't have to use the same medium, or the exact same setting, but it has to have enough similarities to see that it's the same thing
Put both the old and the new artwork in a before and after meme (something like this one). Make sure to add the dates of both artworks, like this!!!
(Optional, but encouraged) Write in the artist description what you feel you've improved on.
Link to this journal in the artwork description.
Make sure your work appears in my inbox, either by linking to this journal directly by thumb code, or to tag me DamaiMikaz (click here for instructions on how to tag).
Visual art only (no writing).
The artwork has to be submitted after November 25th, 2016 and before January 1st 2017.
Note that you need to do all of these (except for the optional one) in order to qualify for getting the prizes!

The challenge will be judged by me (DamaiMikaz), and will be judged on effort, rather than skill.
You don't have to be an amazing artist to win!!!
The deadline for participating in this challenge is:
January 1st, 2017
The winners will be announced early January (might be a tad later, since holidays and everything happen XD)
But of course you can still do the challenge by yourself afterwards.
The prizes will be gone after the deadline, though
You can see all entries here
If your entry isn't in the above folder within a few days of submitting, please contact me by note (because I might've forgotten)
Q: Does the before artwork has to be from a specific date?
A: Yes. It's about improvement in a 1 year period of time. If I allow older works judging would be near impossible
Q: I don't have full drawings from that time period. Are sketches fine too?
A: Absolutely.
Q: I don't have a DeviantArt account for so long, but I do have old drawings.
A: Drawing from an older account, or from other social media (instagram, tumblr, etc) are fine, as long as you can specify the date.
Q: I just wrote 'before' and 'after' on the meme. Why isn't it in the folder?
A: I will only allow entries with a specific date. If you don't know the specific day on which you made a drawing (or you spend more than one day on it), just specifying the month will do to.
Q: Why the specific date bracket?
A: I want to judge work within a one to one-and-a-half period of time. If everybody submits entries that cover different timespans it would be near impossible to judge the actual improvement.
Q: Can I submit more than one entry?
A: Yes, but you can only win once
Q: Can I donate a prize and still enter the contest?
A: Yes, you can. As long as you're not a judge, you can win (and I am the only judge for now)
~ Good luck and have fun!

Heya Deviants! It's time for another challenge!!!
As a follow-up of the previous challenges, I want to organize another one.
The general idea of a challenge is that it's done for you. It's not a full contest. Yes, there are prizes, but the main goal of a challenge is your own improvement. To some degree all of those that enter are winners. You've all won at improving your own art!
Note: This journal will be updated when the prize pool changes
Note: Entries will be allowed until December 31st. If you submitted an entry, please check if yours is in the contest folder. Only entries in the contest folder will be judged! There will be a new journal up in 2017 about the judging.

I'm still alive
It's been a while since I last posted and people have sending me worried messages, so I wanted to let you all know I'm doing fine. I don't have corona and I'm not dead. My computer broke down a while ago, and the consistent problems of working with a broken system and not having the money to properly fix or replace it eventually made me very demotivated to draw. As an artist I've always suffered from self-doubt and massive imposter syndrome. No matter how good I get, I'm always critical at my work. The last batch of commissions I did (even though for a good cause) just emphasized that feeling of not being creatively ready to venture into professional spheres. I honestly respect the people who do, but it's not for me. The pressure of having to churn out quality work on a time limit (next to my regular work) burned me out, and I needed some time off the internet to recuperate. Thank you all for your supportive messages. I'm trying to pick up my art again. Slowly, and working on my
Emergency commissions for vet bills [ON HOLD]
Update April 23, 2020
I'm literally blown away by all the response I got.
I have now filled up a first batch of commissions.
As much as will help me cover the initial bill. And as much as will be possible to deliver, considering I have to do those drawings in my free time (I have a regular job to attend as well).
I expect to deliver commissions somewhere over the upcoming 6 weeks.
Depending on the situation with the cat I might open up more commissions in the future.

Git gud
It's so tiring to hear people dismiss the ability to create art as sheer talent, and tell me they could never do the same as I do. What do you expect me to answer? That some divine being came down and blessed me with the ability to do art? And you haven't got that divine skill, so you never could do it, and we should all pity you for it?
The truth is that there isn't much of a difference, except that I spend a lot of time creating art. I learned how to draw hands, because I've drawn hundreds of them over the last couple of years. I learned writing because I write nearly every day, and read books when I don't. I spend a lot of time creating a
