Uniform

The uniform Sato wore to infiltrate the imperial palace was almost as black as his normal clothes, aside from a few small silvery details. Only the emperor and his successors wore white clothing. It was a symbolic thing. A kind of purity that served to distinguish the Kenzo family from their inferior staff. Oh, the irony...

Nobody noticed Sato when he walked into the palace with a confident look on his face, yet inside he felt strange. It had been years since he last set foot in the palace, yet it still felt as impressive as ever. The reflection he saw of himself in the glass doors alienated him. He looked years older than he usually would, and it suddenly made him realize he wasn't a kid anymore. He grew up. He could've been a normal person, an honorable citizen with a job and perhaps even a family, if it wasn't for that whole messed up situation.

Admittedly, this started as some kind of quick drawing for a draw-men-in-uniform gag EveVon and I had going on in a chat, but as I was working on it I thought: "Why not add some details and colors and shit?"
Story is based on the Operation Emion mission in book 1, where Sato goes to infiltrate the imperial palace because he's obviously up to no good. It was fun to write. Though looking back at it now (early on in book 4) I think all the characters are still so sweet and innocent there :')
