Sketchdump August 2013

It is difficult for me to critique sketches because I am personally not very good at such things, as I normally deal in "wordsmithing" but I noticed you requested critiquing on this so I shall do my best.

I really like your idea (or "vision") and can personally relate to what you were thinking of in your conscious and subconscious mind whilst drawing this piece. To me, this phantasmal and futuristic sketch seems to portray a being whom is literally standing on the edge of his/her prime and soaking it all in. It almost gives off a sinister vibe, possibly that this being has discovered a new energy source and might use this new found "power" for evil. The clenching of the fingers and overall pose indicate what I am mentioning.

I feel like this is unfinished and deserves continuing. I am impressed by the detail that was put into the rocks leading up to the focal point, usually less attention is given to scenery in sketches I've seen. Which leads me to a question out of pure curiosity, where on your sketch did your art utensil, assuming pencil, first touch? In laymen's terms, where did you start?
